Sunshine Skyway connects Pinellas and Manatee counties across lower Tampa Bay. The 15-mile bridge is made up of three smaller bridges and a 4-mile concrete skyway and is a vital link of I-275. There are areas for fishing, picnicking and swimming off the roadway. The central section of the southbound span of the original bridge collapsed into the bay when a tanker hit one of the supports in 1980. The remaining spans became Skyway Fishing Piers State Park, offering more than 4 miles of fishing platform.
