The Dalí Museum, jct. Bayshore Dr. S.E. and 5th Ave. S.E. at 1 Dalí Blvd., houses one of the largest collections of Spanish artist Salvador Dalí's works; its more than 2,000 pieces include 96 oil paintings, eight of which are master works. From the outside in, the museum entrances. A bulbous geodesic glass sculpture made of more than 900 triangular-shaped glass pieces sinuously wraps around a portion of the exterior. To enter the museum, visitors cross a footbridge through the Avant-Garden, comprised of a subtropical grotto, a hedge labyrinth, a wish tree and a stone patio.

Inside, a helical spiral staircase climbs to the third floor, where two galleries and surrounding salons hold the collection. Dating from 1914-80, Dalí's paintings range from small impressionistic works to gigantic surrealistic montages. Sculptures, prints, photographs and other objects illustrate Dalí's artistic diversity. The museum also features a children's education classroom, a theater, temporary exhibits, family programs and special events.
