Stetson Mansion
AAA Editor Notes
The Stetson Mansion is at 1031 Camphor Ln. You'll be awed by the extraordinary mix of Tudor, Gothic, Polynesian and Moorish architectural styles exhibited in hat manufacturer John Stetson’s former winter home; the ornate 1886 residence is one of just a few in Florida that remain from the Gilded Age. From Nov. 15-Jan. 15, the mansion is resplendent in Christmas finery.

Among the kings, presidents and other prominent individuals to cross the three-story house’s threshold was Thomas Edison, who supervised the electrical installation; you can see the original circuit box and some of his original fixtures. Highlights include 16 intricately patterned parquet floors and 10,000 original leaded-glass window panes.

Note: As of Spring 2023, Historic Tours no longer are offered year-round; Christmas Spectacular Tours remain available in season. Photography, video cameras, high-heeled shoes, large handbags and camera bags are not permitted inside the mansion. Tours require guests to climb two flights of stairs.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
