Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, on US 19 at jct. SR 50, is built around a spring that flows at a rate of 170 million gallons a day and maintains a temperature of 74 F. “Mermaids” perform in an underwater theater, and a riverboat cruise explores the flora and fauna of a typical Florida ecosystem. Animal shows focus on birds and reptiles. A natural spring on the Weeki Wachee River feeds Buccaneer Bay, which features a white-sand beach; a flume ride and lazy river are open seasonally. Rental canoes and kayaks are available.

Note: The headwaters of the springs are under renovation in 2020; kayak launch only is open. Picnicking is permitted only at Buccaneer Bay.

Guided tours are available. Recreational activities are permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 6 hours minimum.
