Forsyth Park, on Gaston St. between Whitaker and Drayton sts., is particularly lovely in early spring during the azalea season and includes a fragrance garden and a playground for children. A circa 1858 fountain featuring a fanciful grouping of mermen, swans and a lone water nymph is the centerpiece of the original tract, laid out in 1851. A monument is in the park extension.
