Georgia State Railroad Museum, in Tricentennial Park at 655 Louisville Rd., is the nation's most complete antebellum railroad complex; more than a dozen buildings survive. Restored locomotives, railcars, machinery, and a working handcar and model train are displayed. Visitors can ride the handcar and tour the railcars as well as take a guided tour of the site by train, where they will see the fully operational turntable.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

$11; $7 (ages 2-12). A combination ticket is available that offers admission to three of the following five sites: Georgia State Railroad Museum, Savannah Children’s Museum, Savannah History Museum, Old Fort Jackson and Pin Point Heritage Museum.
Daily 9-5. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas; phone ahead to confirm holiday hours and train schedule.
