Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, 41 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is in Scarbrough House, built in 1819 for William Scarbrough, a principal owner of the Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. Exhibitions include ship models, maritime artifacts and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Four different videos are shown, and rotating exhibits are on display. Also of interest is the 1.2-acre garden, the largest private garden in the historic district.

Special events are offered.

Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Garden free. Museum $9; $7 (ages 65+ and students and military with ID); free (ages 0-5); $21 (family, two adults and up to three children ages 0-17). A combination ticket with Andrew Low House and Davenport House is available.
Garden open daily 10-5. Museum Tues.-Sun. 10-5. Last admission is 45 minutes before closing. Closed major holidays; phone ahead.
