State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia

State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia is at 2450 S. Milledge Ave. just s.w. of the main university campus. The 313-acre botanical garden serves as a cultural, educational and recreational facility on the Middle Oconee River. Five miles of nature trails extend into the natural areas typical of the habitats and plant communities found in Georgia's Piedmont region. The Mimsie Lanier Center for Native Plant Species propagates endangered plants from Georgia and reintroduces them into landscapes throughout the state. A number of themed gardens and special collections display species from around the world.

The Alice Hand Callaway Visitor Center and Conservatory contains a collection of tropical and semi-tropical plants that provide a backdrop for concerts, lectures and art exhibitions. Note: Pets are not permitted.

Food is available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
