Archibald Smith Plantation Home, 935 Alpharetta St., is the preserved former home of one of Roswell's founding families. The 1845 house, built by enslaved labor, features original furnishings, clothing and family possessions kept intact by descendants of the Smiths. An 1840s piano, a Civil War soldier's trunk and a walnut plantation desk are among the antiques and artifacts displayed.

The property also features several original buildings, including a barn, carriage house, greenhouse, corn crib, kitchen, cabin and spring house. Docents convey generations of history regarding the estate and its inhabitants, including the enslaved workers.

An audio tour of the grounds is available by cellphone.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
