Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area, 7 mi. w. on SR 39C at 8930 Canyon Rd., is known as “Georgia's Little Grand Canyon.” The park preserves a 1,003-acre area containing 16 canyons eroded to a depth of 150 feet. The still-eroding walls of the winding gullies exhibit varicolored strata. A hiking trail leads into the canyons. A visitor center offers exhibits about native wildlife, flora and fauna.
Guided hikes are available by reservation.
