AAA Editor Notes
City Hall, jct. Bull and Bay sts., was built in the Renaissance Revival style and completed in 1906 on the site of the 1799 City Exchange. Bronze tablets attached to the building's front commemorate the 1834 launching of the SS John Randolph, the first iron ship seen in American waters, and the 1819 SS Savannah, the first steam-propelled ship to cross the Atlantic. On the first floor visitors can view original architectural details, including a four-story rotunda crowned by a stained-glass dome, mechanical clockworks, tile mosaics, a bronze fountain, and rotating art and history exhibits.

Guided tours are available.
