Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum, 41 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is in Scarbrough House, built in 1819 for William Scarbrough, a principal owner of the Savannah, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic. Exhibitions include ship models, maritime artifacts and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries. Four different videos are shown, and rotating exhibits are on display. Also of interest is the 1.2-acre garden, the largest private garden in the historic district.
