Pālāa‘u State Park

Pālāa‘u State Park, about 3 mi. n. off SR 470, is 233 acres overlooking Kalaupapa Peninsula. Some 1,600 feet below the overlook, which is reached by a short trail, is Father Damien’s Kalaupapa. The Moloka‘i Mule Barn on SR 470 is the departure point for guided tours that transport visitors to Kalaupapa by mule train. Just below the park, the 3-mile, 26-switchback Kalaupapa Trail begins its descent to the leaf-shaped Kalaupapa Peninsula.

Guided tours are available. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
