Putnam Museum & Science Center is at 1717 W. 12th St. Exhibits reflect the region’s history and the archeology of Egypt, Asia and the Americas. More than 170,000 artifacts and specimens are on display. The museum’s six permanent exhibit halls are Black Earth/Big River, an interactive exhibit that explores the Quad City region’s natural habitats; World Culture Gallery showcasing cultural diversity with artifacts, objects and collections from around the world; Hall of Mammals; River, Prairie and People, featuring added community collaboration; and Unearthing Ancient Egypt; Ocean Experience; Uwé Warúmi, a trading place for children ages 4-10; and FabLab. The Science Center offers more than 45 hands-on stations that focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The 264-seat National Geographic Giant Screen Theater shows large-format films on a six-story-high, seven-story-wide screen.

Special events and traveling exhibits also are offered.
