Adler Planetarium is just e. of Lake Shore Dr. (US 41) at 1300 S. DuSable Lake Shore Dr. Located on Chicago's lakefront the planetarium features exhibitions, sky and space shows and is home to three full-size theaters: the all-digital projection Definiti Space Theater, the technologically advanced Grainger Sky Theater and the 3-D Samuel C. Johnson Family Star Theater.

Mission Moon, celebrates the mysteries and magnetism of our closest celestial neighbor, the Moon, and takes a closer look at humanity’s relationship with Earth’s cosmic companion. The Doane Observatory is home to the area's largest telescope where visitors can view celestial objects trillions of miles away.

The Adler’s Community Design Lab (CDL) is a flexible workshop where visitors can roll up their sleeves, test ideas and solve problems through creative solutions. The second CDL space is called the Community PlayLab and is located adjacent to our family-friendly exhibition Planet Explorers. This spot, for families with children under age 6, allows all to explore, play and discover together. Children can be inventors, builders, artists and scientists through the wonder of the imagination lab where little guests can play with water and kinetic sand, build a hovercraft, and explore the tot spot. The Atwood Experience includes the Atwood Sphere where stars are put in motion while a guide takes viewers through different constellations.

Temporary exhibits are offered, and educational programs are scheduled throughout the year.
