AAA Editor Notes
Richard J. Daley Center, 50 W. Washington St., is the 31-story home of many municipal courts and offices. Showcasing a Modern rather than Classical style of architecture, the building was completed in 1965 with such innovative features as spatial flexibility and an exterior made of self-weathering Corrosive-Tensile steel. Of special interest is the plaza's 50-foot-high, unpainted steel sculpture by Pablo Picasso.
