Joseph Smith Historic Site, 1 blk. w. of SR 96 at 865 Water St. along the Mississippi River, is maintained by the Community of Christ, formerly known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Guided walking tours of the Smith family's homes depart from the visitor center, which offers a short orientation video, paintings of Nauvoo and historical items relating to the city and its residents.
