Giant City State Park

Giant City State Park, 2 mi. e. at 235 Giant City Rd., was named for the large cubical blocks of stone that rise from its canyons. Evidence of early human and Native American inhabitation in the region can be seen. Such recreational opportunities as horseback riding and rock climbing as well as eight hiking trails can be enjoyed in the rugged, hilly section often called the Illinois Ozarks. A visitor center features exhibits and a 10-minute orientation video; a 50-foot-tall observation deck also is on site.
