AAA Editor Notes
Monroe County History Center is at 202 E. 6th St. Permanent exhibits chronicle the history of the county, from its founding through the development of the local limestone industry up to the present day. Displays include an 1840s log cabin, the history of transportation, a one-room school and Monroe County sports history. Temporary exhibits rotate several times a year. The museum is in the Carnegie Library building, an early 20th-century Classical limestone structure. A local history and genealogy research library also is available.
