AAA Editor Notes
James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum is at 250 W. Main St. The 1849 birthplace of Indiana's poet laureate has been restored. His most celebrated poems drew on childhood experiences and later inspired the Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and the “Little Orphan Annie” comic strip. His Annie character was based on a worker at the Riley home; her room is part of the guided tour. A visitor center chronicles the poet's life through various displays and video presentations. The gardens contain flowers and herbs of the period.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
