Minnetrista, 1200 N. Minnetrista Pkwy., is a 40-acre campus encompassing a museum, a cultural center, a historic home, themed gardens, a nature area and a portion of the White River Greenway. Erected in 1988, the center houses galleries that display changing exhibits about the region's natural and cultural heritage. The 6-acre formal and natural gardens were created by Frances and Elisabeth Ball between 1895 and the 1970s. The L.L. Ball Visitors Center is the departure point for tours of Oakhurst Gardens and includes a short slide presentation about Oakhurst.
Outdoor concerts, festivals, art fairs and gardening events are held on the grounds. Various programs and hands-on activities also are offered throughout the year.
