Church of Our Lady of Aranzazu

Church of Our Lady of Aranzazu (Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu) is at avs. 16 de Septiembre and Prisciiano Sánchez, bordering the s. side of San Francisco Park (Parque San Francisco). It has a plain exterior, but inside is an extravagantly ornate retablo (altarpiece) that is a dazzling example of Spanish baroque design; its niches contain life-size statues of the saints. Also impressive are the colorful walls and ceilings.

Next to this church stands the less-ornate San Francisco Church (Iglesia de San Francisco). San Francisco Park is a starting point for horse-drawn carriage rides.
