Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd., consists of restorations and reproductions of more than 40 buildings dating 1865-80. Among them is the Darius Munger House, Wichita’s first residential structure; the city’s first jail; a general store; a newspaper shop; a carpenter shop; a drugstore; a school; a saloon; and a railroad depot. Many buildings are furnished in period.

A 5-acre working farm depicts agricultural history. A blacksmith demonstrates his craft, and costumed interpreters perform living-history demonstrations. The Dickens Christmas Splendor is featured during the first three weekends in December.

Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
