AAA Editor Notes
The National Quilt Museum is at 215 Jefferson St. The museum’s permanent collection of more than 600 contemporary quilts and fiber art is one of the country’s largest. Three climate-controlled galleries celebrate the fabric medium and rotate 50-60 quilts of extraordinary and pictorial design, including a selection from the award-winning collection as well as changing exhibits featuring antique and thematic quilts. Another gallery displays to-scale miniature quilts, all 24 inches or smaller in size. The museum lobby’s eight stained-glass windows are highlighted with designs inspired by quilt patterns.

A self-guiding tour delves into the origins of the quilts and their creators and explores traditional quilting styles and techniques. Activities, events and workshops are offered for experienced and novice quilters.

Guided tours are available by appointment.

Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
