AAA Editor Notes
Kansas Wetlands Education Center is at 592 N.E. SR 156. The facility overlooks the 19,857-acre Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area and the 7,694-acre Cheyenne Bottoms Preserve. Exhibits describe the history and development of the Cheyenne Bottoms wetlands, including its formation and its flora and fauna. The wetlands are home to about 340 species of migratory waterfowl and shorebirds, and birdwatching is a popular activity; cranes, herons, pelicans and sandpipers have been seen here. Spot wood rat nests, orioles and animal tracks on the 0.5-mile nature trail next to the center. Take a self-guiding driving tour, or a 30-minute or 1.5-hour guided van tour, of the area.

Guided tours are available.
