Onyx Cave

Onyx Cave is at 93 Huckleberry Knob Rd. This system of vertical shafts was uncovered during the construction of Guntown Mountain. Slowly over time, the cave's pits and domes became coated by calcite crystal flowstone. During self-guided tours of the cave, visitors can observe the shimmering effect on the cave's walls, a result of the combination of crystals and seeping water.

Note: 30-minute cave tours require steps and small passageways. Wear a light jacket; the temperature in the cave is a constant 60-degrees Fahrenheit.
