WaterWorks Museum, at Louisville Water Tower Park, at 3005 River Rd., tells the story of Louisville's water supply and its safety inside the Louisville Water Company's historic and ornamental Pumping Station No. 1. The west wing features an archive with photographs circa 1860, a 1938 silent film that shows the steam engine in operation and reservoir cleanup with mules, and exhibits about the engineering and science behind drinking water. Rotating displays show riverbank filtration and the historic steam mud pump.

Architectural renderings as well as original water meters, mains and tools also can be seen. Guided tours explore the water tower, and historic and modern pump stations.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
