Longue Vue House and Gardens is off I-10 at the Metairie Rd. exit. This Country Place Era house and garden was the home of philanthropists Edgar Bloom Stern and his wife Edith, daughter of Sears magnate Julius Rosenwald. The home is designed by architects William Platt and Geoffry Platt.

The mansion—with its four facades each reflecting a different style—is furnished with 18th- and 19th-century American and English antiques. The interior decor in the home as well as the majority of the garden spaces was designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman. These garden spaces are some of the last remaining of her design. The 8-acre grounds feature fountains, garden experiences and an interactive children's garden.

Guided tours are available.
