Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center is off I-10 exit 162, 2.5 mi. s. on Bluebonnet Blvd., then just w. to 10503 N. Oak Hills Pkwy. The nature center houses live-animal exhibits, touch tables, photographic presentations of local flora and fauna, and a collection of waterfowl decoys. Visitors may explore a 65-acre cypress-tupelo swamp and a magnolia-beech hardwood forest via trails and boardwalks.

The site is home to dozens of bird species including herons, owls and hawks as well as such common swamp animals as raccoons, snakes and turtles. Special events and educational programs are held throughout the year.
