Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church is at 605 2nd St. Designated a minor basilica in 2009, the church building dates from the mid-1850s. The first mass was held in 1717 when a Franciscan walked 21 miles from the Spanish mission at Los Adaes to say Mass in Natchitoches—the first public religious service in the town. Except for the pews and the American- and Austrian-made stained glass windows, all fittings and furnishings in the church were imported from France.
