Joseph Jefferson Home and Rip Van Winkle Gardens is at 5505 Rip Van Winkle Rd. Joseph Jefferson was an acclaimed actor in the late 1800s known for his role as Rip Van Winkle; his home was built as a winter respite from his stage performances. The 22-room mansion features a cupola, period paintings and fine furnishings. Camellias, day lilies, roses and magnolias are among the many flowers that blossom year-round in 25 acres of interlocking gardens.
