AAA Editor Notes
The North Bridge, just w. of Monument St. in Minute Man National Historical Park, was the site of “the shot heard 'round the world”—the first major engagement of the Revolution—on April 19, 1775. Just across the bridge stands Daniel Chester French's “The Minute Man” statue, which is engraved with a stanza from Ralph Waldo Emerson's “Concord Hymn.” North Bridge Visitor Center is a short walk past the statue and up the hill. Ranger-led educational programs are available daily.
