Parker River National Wildlife Refuge headquarters is at 6 Plum Island Tpke. (Rolfe's Ln.). The 4,662-acre refuge includes the southern three-fourths of Plum Island and salt marshes west to the mainland and is an excellent bird-watching area. It has a visitor center, hiking trails, observation towers and 6.5 miles of beach.

Surf fishing, nature study, canoeing and kayaking can be enjoyed. Waterfowl hunting is allowed in season. Clamming and limited night surf fishing are available by permit only.

Camping is not permitted.

Recreational activities are permitted.
