The House of the Seven Gables is at 115 Derby St. The site comprises a collection of First Period buildings, including New England's oldest surviving wooden mansion, the 1668 Turner-Ingersoll Mansion, which inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic novel. Also on the grounds—from which a panorama of Salem Harbor can be seen—are the author's 1750 birthplace, the 1655 Retire Beckett House and seaside period gardens. Guided tours of The House of the Seven Gables are included.
