AAA Editor Notes
Capitol Park, between the State House and the Kennebec River, contains 72 species of indigenous trees and 23 species of exotic trees as well as varieties of shrubs and ferns. The 20-acre park also is the site of the Maine Vietnam Veterans Memorial, a unique triangular piece of art, and the Enoch Lincoln Monument, a granite obelisk marking the grave of the former governor who played an important role in designating Augusta as the state capitol.
