AAA Editor Notes
Josephine Newman Sanctuary is 9 mi. s. of jct. US 1 and SR 127. Owned and managed by Maine Audubon, the sanctuary incorporates various habitats rich in animal life within its 119 acres, including tidal mud flats, marshes and forest. The sanctuary's 2 miles of walking trails meander through stands of hemlock, pine, oak and spruce.

Note: Visitors are warned that the area harbors an abundance of mosquitoes and ticks in summer, especially in July. Dogs are not permitted.
