The Children's Museum

The Children's Museum, at The Forks, 45 Forks Market Rd., occupies Manitoba's oldest train repair facility. The museum houses a dozen colorful galleries offering a wide variety of educational and fun hands-on activities. Junction 9161 and the Engine House galleries immerse visitors in train history with a 1910 Pullman passenger coach and a 1952 diesel locomotive. A walk through the Illusion Tunnel will test perceptions. Tot Spot caters to little ones. Other areas include Splash Lab, Pop m'Art, Story Line, Tumble Zone, Lasagna Lookout and Milk Machine.

During the holiday season (mid-November to mid-January), visitors can reminisce with a trip to Eaton's Fairytale Vignettes, the original holiday display from downtown's Eaton's department store. The setup features 15 scenes from various fairytales. Special events, public programs and workshops are offered throughout the year.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
