Buttonwood Park Zoo is .4 mi. s. on Chancery St., then .8 mi. w. to 425 Hawthorn St. The zoo's theme, From the Berkshires to the Sea, focuses on the land- and water-based wildlife of Massachusetts. Nearly 200 species are housed in re-created natural habitats. Visitors encounter bald eagles, black bears, bobcats, mountain lions, river otters, seals and farm animals as well as Asian elephants and North American bison. Pony rides and a children's train ride are available.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
