Riel House National Historic Site

Riel House National Historic Site, 330 River Rd., was the home of the mother of Louis Riel. Although this leader of the Métis and founder of the provisional government of Manitoba never lived in the house, his body lay in state for several days after his execution in 1885. Interpretive panels near the walkway to the house explain the history of the Métis and of the Riel family.
