George Peabody Library of the Johns Hopkins University

George Peabody Library of the Johns Hopkins University is at 17 E. Mount Vernon Pl. and comprises more than 300,000 books. The majority dates between the 18th- and early 20th centuries. Architectural highlights are the five ornate cast-iron balconies surrounding a marble atrium. Per philanthropist George Peabody's wishes, the collection remains non-circulating.
