Hartwick Pines State Park is 7 mi. n.e. on SR 93. The 9,672-acre park contains stands of virgin pine and hemlock. The Michigan Forest Visitor Center, a chapel, and reproductions of a kitchen, mess hall and workshop from an early logging camp and sawmill are on the grounds. The Hartwick Pines Logging Museum contains displays depicting the state’s 19th-century logging industry. Recreational activities include 20 miles of hiking trails, fishing, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and camping.
