AAA Editor Notes
Cappon & Settlers House Museums are at 228 and 190 W. 9th St. The Cappon House, built in 1874 in the Italianate Victorian style, was the family residence of Isaac Cappon, a Dutch immigrant and the city's first mayor. A nursery, kitchen, parlor and sitting room contain nearly all original woodwork and furnishings. Displays in the tiny Settlers House reflect the hardships early settlers faced.
