Niles History Center is at 508 E. Main St. and includes the Fort St. Joseph Museum and the Chapin Mansion. The Fort St. Joseph Museum, located in the carriage house of the 1882 Chapin home, contains more than 10,000 historic items, including Lakota and Potawatomi Indian relics, artifacts from the site of Fort St. Joseph and Sitting Bull pictographs. The Chapin Mansion served for many years as the Niles City Hall. It is now a house museum and features outstanding stained glass, hand-carved woodwork, nine fireplaces and beautiful chandeliers.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
