Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is off I-494 (34th Ave. exit), then .5 mi. e. to 3815 American Blvd. E. This more than 50-mile corridor of marsh, grassland and forest follows the valley of the Minnesota River. Numerous recreational opportunities are available, including trails for bird watching, hiking and snowshoeing. The Bloomington Education and Visitor Center has interactive exhibits about the refuge's changing environment and habitats, along with an art gallery that rotates artists every 6 weeks. Public interpretive programs also are offered.
