Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA) is at 2400 Third Ave. S. Home to one of the finest collections in the country, it houses nearly 90,000 works of art representing thousands of years of world history. Permanent collection highlights include European masterworks by Rembrandt, Nicolas Poussin and Vincent van Gogh, as well as modern and contemporary paintings and sculpture by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Frank Stella and Chuck Close.

MIA also has notable collections of prints and drawings, decorative arts, Modernist design pieces, photographs, textiles and Asian, African and Native American art. The main neoclassical-style building is flanked by two modern wings designed by Kenzo Tange and Michael Graves.
