AAA Editor Notes
Hermann's Monument is w. of the city at 10 N. Monument St., in Hermann Heights Park. A statue standing atop a 102-foot bluff commemorates the deeds of Hermann, a warrior Cheruskian prince who defeated Roman forces on behalf of Germany in A.D. 9 (2009 marked the 2,000-year anniversary of his heroics). This monument is similar to one in Germany's Teutoburg Forest. Stairs lead to the top and a view of the city and surrounding farmland.
