Anchuca Mansion

Anchuca Mansion is .4 mi. n.e. off I-20 exit 1C (Halls Ferry Rd.), 1.5 mi. n. to Cherry St., 1.2 mi. n. to jct. First East St., then just e. to 1010 First East St. Constructed in 1830 by local politician J.W. Mauldin, this Greek Revival home later was the residence of Joseph Emory Davis, brother of Confederate president Jefferson Davis, until his death in 1870. In January 1869 Davis visited his brother and delivered one of his final public addresses from the dwelling's front balcony.

A 5-minute orientation video is shown. Visitors can explore the landscaped gardens and brick courtyards on the estate grounds. The mansion's living areas are decorated with late 18th and mid-19th century antiques.
