Melvin Price Locks and Dam is at #1 Lock and Dam Way, at the National Great Rivers Museum. Part of the Upper Mississippi's flood control and navigation system, the Melvin Price Locks and Dam features two locks through which billions of dollars of goods pass each year.
Guided tours of the locks and dam depart from the adjacent museum, where visitors also can see a video about the project. Nearby Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary has bird-watching platforms. Bald eagles inhabit the area and can often be seen in flight or resting in the treetops from various places along the levee.
