LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City is at 2475 Grand Blvd., at the south end of Crown Center Square. Kids are introduced to an exhibit of a LEGO factory showing how the classic bricks are made, then ushered onto a ride where they get to shoot dragons and monsters with a laser gun from the moving car. Also featured is a 15-minute 4-D movie.

An impressive display of Kansas City's landmarks make up MiniLand, which consists of 1.5 million individual LEGO bricks and several interactive features; over the course of 6 minutes the room changes from day to night, and includes a LED fireworks display. Several stations are set up inside the Discovery Center, ranging from a LEGO racer build and test workshop to a girls' karaoke shop.

LEGO Master Builder Academy classes are offered every half-hour, during which participants create a unique piece that can be purchased and taken home. There is a large soft play area with slides, rope walls and huge blocks, including a giant wrecking ball that inspires more thoughts of demolition than creation.

You must accompany a child under the age of 16 to visit the attraction. Adult only night is 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month. Children must wear socks to enter the soft play area.

Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
