Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Visitor Center is 10 mi. s.w. of Springfield; from I-44 exit 70, take SR MM south about 4 miles to US 60 and proceed through the intersection, continuing half a mile to County Road ZZ. Turn right on County Road ZZ and continue south 1.5 miles to Farm Road 182 (Elm Street). Turn left onto Farm Road; the battlefield entrance is on the right at 6424 W. Farm Road 182.
A film and a fiber optic map both detail the history of the battle. Exhibits include Medals of Honor earned by soldiers who fought at Wilson's Creek, John Brown's rifles fired during battle and Sterling Price's hand-carved revolver. A collection of Civil War memorabilia features flags, uniforms, weapons and other artifacts. A 5-mile, self-guided driving audio tour has eight stops that show battle locations.
Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
